Peace Be With You

Good morning everyone! For those of you out there who need comfort today, just remember to call upon the name of the Lord. I love the fact that He never leaves us. I remember all through my childhood I was usually alone because my siblings and cousins were older than me, but I also remember talking to God a lot, and that’s how we should be today. When things get tough and it feels like everything is falling apart, just say Jesus. There is no right or wrong way to pray but often times, it feels like we don’t know how to put our prayers into words but the amazing thing is, God already knows. He knows what’s in your heart and He knows exactly what you need so when you don’t know what to say just say Jesus and let His peace and comfort wash over you. He loved you yesterday, He loves you today, and He will love you forevermore❤️

Psalms 93:4

Good morning everyone! This verse is a good reminder that when you're feeling down and out that God is still on top. If you find yourself stuck in a pit full of doubt, sin, or guilt, just look up because our Father is reaching His hand down to help us up, we just need to reach out and grab ahold of His hand. In the middle of all of the chaos and trouble of this life we sometimes find ourselves where we never imagined we would be but in all of the hustle and bustle of the day to day life just remember to stop; take a breath, and just listen. God is always right there to comfort you and to guide you, you just have to listen and let Him in.

Vision

I was thinking about my future and the word vision entered my head. Now there are different definitions of the word but the definition I want to focus on is this; the faculty or state of being able to see.

You see, when you start thinking about your future, sure it may seem like a good idea but soon enough you’ll be so caught up in thinking about your future that you’re not living in the now. I have learned here recently that life is too short to worry about anything other than God, He is the one who made us so why shouldn’t we focus fully on him?

I heard a message from an online church that I listen to and the three main topics they focused on were as follows; Love, Time, and Death. And in all honesty that pretty much sums up the entirety of life right? Except those three words each have a whole other understanding behind them.

Lets talk a little bit about love. And I don’t mean love for your significant other, love for your children, parents, etc., I want to focus on love as a whole. The definition of love is an intense feeling of deep affection. Seems simple enough right? We do love our parents, our children, our husband/wife, we love many things. But do we love those that hurt us? You see as Jesus hung there on the cross he said “Father forgive them, for they know not what they do” [Luke 23:34]. What would it take for you to give your life for another, even if that person is living deeply in sin and you think they don’t deserve it? Luckily our lives aren’t in the hands of another man but in the hands of our creator. Our sins, our hurt, our sorrows, everything that we go through in this life has been covered by the love Jesus poured out on the cross.

Now, lets talk a little bit about time. We think that we have all the time in the world but let me say this, sometimes our time on earth is short and you better be ready. You can’t live in sin and think ‘Oh I have plenty of time to make things right’ because in reality, your life could end in the blink of an eye, then where would you be? No Christian is perfect and yes, you may backslide but God forgives and no matter what anyone else thinks the only thing that matters is our relationship with God. Take the commandments and follow them as told; “If ye love me, keep my commandments” [John 14:15].

And lastly, death. It can be either a time of joy or a time of sorrow. For followers of Christ, it’s not really the end because our life lives on in Heaven with our father and our loved ones that have gone before us. And for sinners, sure you’ll have eternal life but in the worst torment you could think of. Take the hot summers and multiply it by thousands, take every rotten smell and quadruple it. Life after death is eternal but you better know where you’re going to spend it.

So the sum of life does come to three things; Love, Time, & Death. But don’t forget that the most important part is how you live in between.

Finding Jesus In Times Of Sorrow

We recently had to lay my sweet Granny to rest. She was ready for her eternal life in Heaven but we were not ready to say goodbye. I had to keep reminding myself that it was not a goodbye but simply an ‘I’ll see you later’ kind of thing. Heaven seems so far away sometimes, especially while thinking about her constantly and seeing her sweet face in past photos where she was smiling and jolly as ever.

Through this experience I have learned that you can rely on your family, your friends, your co-workers, your significant other, but one thing they can’t provide is peace and comfort. Sure they can say soothing words to you and hug you, which brings some comfort but I have found that the only time I truly feel comforted is when I am talking with Jesus. He is the one who comforts us and can bring peace and happiness with such a tragedy.

It doesn’t matter how old or young you are, if it’s your time to go, Jesus is going to call you home. It’s never easy and I am still struggling with coping and the grieving process but I remember her in the happy times. I remember her by thinking about sitting at the breakfast table while she enjoyed her eggs, and biscuits and gravy. I remember sitting on the couch with her while holding her hand and listening as she told me stories of her childhood. I remember sitting with her while she talked about Jesus and how great he is.

It’s hard to understand death and why it happens but this is isn’t the end. It’s the beginning of a whole other life, an eternal one. Our lives will never be the same without her but we find peace through Jesus. He is our comforter, our rock, our shelter, our guide, and our God. He will never leave, nor forsake us even in times or trouble or sorrow.

Psalm 34:18 “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Psalm 147:3 “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

Psalm 73:26 “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Matthew 5:4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”

Psalm 18:2 “The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”

Miracles Around Us

Miracles are all around us whether we realize it or not. No matter how big or small it may be, it shows us that God is always looking out for us.

You see, with our God, nothing is impossible. I’ve seen His miracle working power and you probably have too. For example; One day I was getting ready for work and I had gotten ready a little early so I was going to go ahead and leave but then my dad asked why I was leaving so early so I told him I had gotten ready early and I was going to go ahead and leave so I could get ahead of some of the morning traffic. But a little voice told me I should just wait, so that’s exactly what I did. I prayed with my parents before I left for work, like I do every morning and I went on my way. I got down the road a little ways and there was a huge line of traffic and I was mad, I knew I should’ve left early. I sat in traffic for forty-five minutes and once I made it up the road a little farther I came upon an extremely bad car wreck. A car had swerved into the other lane, hitting another car and ended up in the ditch. A cold chill went down my spine and I questioned where would I have been if I had left early as I had intended too. Sure, I had to call into work and I was late but it may’ve saved me from getting into a car accident. And to me people, that is a miracle from our heavenly Father.

Another example of a miracle is a woman who was told she couldn’t have another child but she wanted one so bad. She was mad at God and questioned why she couldn’t get pregnant. It was a battle for six years until one day she found out she was pregnant. She questioned why God waited so long but was grateful to finally be having another child.

Another case of a miracle is a preacher who had been diagnosed with cancer. He kept his spirits up but still questioned God because he was a worker for the Lord, how could he have cancer? He went through chemo treatments and he witnessed to one of the nurses at the clinic. Someone in her family wasn’t able to bare a child and the preacher spoke of God’s word to her and within a few more chemo treatments he went back and the nurse was ecstatic to report that the family member was now pregnant. The preacher was healed of the cancer but it’s times like that when we see God reach his hand into situations that we have to take a step back and realize we are only holding a piece to the puzzle as God has the whole puzzle laid out. Satan can put illnesses on us but God can turn it into something wonderful.

We were not put here on this earth to praise ourselves but to praise the one who created us. We’re made of nothing more than clay in our Father’s hands.

Trust me when I say this, those trials can bring you to a point in your life that you may think you’ll never be able to get back up but our God is the Alpha & Omega, The Beginning & The End. Sometimes life will bring you to your knees but that’s when you just have to bow your head and cry out to Jesus. He is with you always and his grace is sufficient.

“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness..”

Make Time For Jesus

How many times do you click on to Facebook or Instagram in a day? And when you click on there, why do you do it? Is it just to waste time? How many countless hours do you spend just flipping through funny videos? I’m guilty of it, and I know that most of us are.

But instead of wasting that time on pointless thoughts why not try to spend more time with Jesus. Download a bible app, any one of your choice, and when you find yourself going to click on social media click on your bible app instead and spend at least five minutes, or the spare time that you have, to read on the app.

I know, it may sound like a lot especially for today’s generation which seems to be obsessed with social media and anything that comes along with it. Let’s face it though, most of us are addicted to our phones and we spend countless hours with our eyes glued to our phones and for what? What good will come from flipping through Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter? Absolutely nothing.

The further you become infiltrated with these sites, the more your relationship with Christ will falter. Why, you ask? Because I’ve been there. I would catch myself getting on Facebook when I first woke up, flipping through Instagram on my lunch break at work, scrolling through Facebook once again before bed and many more times throughout the day because I was ‘bored’.

Once you become so addicted to these things it becomes like smoking and you crave it to fill a void. Laugh if you want but you know it’s true. Carry around a small notebook with you for a day and tally mark each time you click on social media apps, the results may actually shock you. I’m not saying that good things can’t come from social media, Pinterest for example. Every morning when I drink my cup of coffee I click on Pinterest and look up scriptures and verses and quotes. It all depends on how you use it.

Now if you’re on Facebook and see really inspirational stories and yada yada, then that’s great! But how many times do you get on there and say, ‘oh I wish I looked like them’, ‘I wish my husband would be more like this’, and so on and so forth. Social media is destroying us as Christians and it’s time for a change. I promise you, spend less time on social media and more time with God and you’ll see the change.

Our lives weren’t meant to be dwindled away by wasting countless hours flipping through pointless things. Spend less times with these worldly things and spend your extra time in prayer. Did you pray this morning or go straight to Facebook? Have you thanked God for waking you up this morning or have you made five posts on Twitter?

Forgiveness

John 8:12 “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

Sometimes it’s hard to be a light, especially when we live in a world that is surrounded by darkness. And sometimes it’s hard to stand up for what’s right when it seems like the whole world is against you but it doesn’t say anywhere in the bible that serving God would be easy. But it does say that he will never leave, nor forsake you.

Some people question ‘well if serving God is hard then why do it’, but the answer is simple really. We serve God because he is our creator. That’s what we were created to do. We lived in a perfect world until Adam and Eve listened to the serpent in the garden of Eden. See, even then we made mistakes, but God forgave them of their sins and he blessed Adam and Eve.

Now not by any means am I saying it’s okay to go out and sin because God will forgive you. I’m simply saying that if you’re going through a hard time and make a mistake that if you ask for forgiveness then you will be forgiven.

Forgiveness is something that we all need, but none of us really deserve it. We should be thankful that our God is gracious enough to look over our sins and see the person that we truly are. He can see the light within you when you think there’s only darkness. Even if there is a little spark, he will flourish that spark into a raging fire and you will become on fire for the Lord. That spark can’t catch if you don’t pray for God’s help though.

God loves you but he won’t force himself on you, you have to want to be saved and you have to want to be changed. I can assure you though, the first time you feel Christ grow in you, you’ll feel unstoppable. Sure, you’ll go through your hard times because the devils job is to rob you of your peace and your love for Christ, it can be challenging but that’s when you tell Satan to flee and he will.

James 4:7 “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

Living as God’s Soldiers

So lately I have been reading my bible more and really studying the Word and I recently read out of Colossians chapter 3, which talks about living as God’s people and I have really been inspired.

Of course it talks about living as God’s people throughout the whole Bible, but it seems like anytime I get on social media or pinterest (which is usually most mornings) A quote or a scripture is put in my pathway that pertains to the exact chapter that my mind has been stuck on.

We as Christians should shine our light for Christ that through us, others may be saved. Now if you’re going out partying, drinking, telling dirty jokes, cursing, etc., how are we supposed to be witnesses for Christ. Our sole purpose in life is to help others get saved so how can you do that when you’re going out and acting like the world? (Romans 14:13 “Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.”)

People should be able to look at you and your life and be able to see something different, they should see the love of Christ living in you. Once you lay down the worldly things then that should be when you start looking up and seeking God’s guidance (Colossians 3:1 “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.”)

blogpic-updated

Galatians 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me : and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

It’s time for us Christians to rise up and stand together for what we believe. We have the freedom of religion so why be ashamed to pray in public, why be ashamed to show Christ when it really counts? (Matthew 10:33 “But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.”)

The time is coming for the ending of the world, do you know where you stand? I stand with Christ.

God’s Love Never Fails

We have to go through many trials in this life and some of those trials may leave you broken. But I once read a quote that said we are all broken, that’s how the light gets in. And that is probably the truest statement that was ever written.

Sometimes we have to get bent and broken just so we will fall on our knees and get settled in the right direction. Our God is a merciful God and in 1 Corinthians 10:13 it says “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.”

Now to understand this verse a little more, it means that he will not give us more than what we are capable of handling and even in those difficult situations he will make a way for us.

People will fail you, life will fail you, sometimes even Christians will fail you, but God’s love is the one that will never fails us.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believe that in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.”

It’s incredible really, to think that someone could have so much love for sinners like us that he would give his only Son to die on the cross for us, just so that we may be saved.

Everything you’ve done has been covered by the blood upon the cross and Jesus is waiting for you with open arms, all you need to do is just accept it. He will never turn you away because his love is greater than the mistakes that we’ve made.

  • Romans 8:39- “Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
  • Romans 5:8- “But God commended his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
  • Romans 5:9- “Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.”
  • Romans 5:10- “For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.”
